Coffee hour is every Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:30-6:30pm at the LAA main office. It is free to all attendees, Starbucks gives us the coffee and the pastries, individuals participate who are interested in conversational Spanish/English. Nightly attendees pair-up with one another, an English speaker with a Spanish speaker, and they practice speaking to each other in each language.
Community Service Volunteering
The LAA hosts court-mandated community volunteers who need to fulfill community service hours. Only those who have traffic violations are eligible to participate. The LAA really appreciates the support of community service volunteers who help us with a variety of much-needed projects.
Community Support Volunteer Opportunities
LAA Volunteers are involved in supporting a variety of community service programs that support the Hispanic community. The LAA is generally a supporting partner organization in these events and is not directly managing these events. Community Support initiatives include: interpreters for elementary school parent/teacher conferences and Open Houses, interpreters for child safety seat events, and volunteers for community health fairs. These events are scheduled during different days/times throughout the year in different areas of the city.

Corporate Volunteer Projects
The LAA is proud to host corporate volunteer groups who are interested in hosting a volunteer day with the LAA. These volunteer days are an awesome way to serve the community while building team morale, and occur on a specific day and time.

The LAA is very appreciative of individuals who are willing to donate items to support our organization and assist our clients. The LAA is always looking for clothing (womens, mens, childrens, infant, and shoes), sheets and towels, personal hygiene products, diapers, food, books, and furniture. Donors will be given a receipt they can use for their tax deduction purposes.

Volunteers are able to choose their own availability during the month either during the day or evening Monday-Friday and will be paired with a client who is scheduled during their appointment time so the volunteer’s time is being utilized and maximized.
Senior Citizens Program:
The LAA senior’s club is a volunteer-run program for older adults in the Latino community. Participating in this program offers an opportunity to speak only in Spanish, and requires a weekly commitment to work with seniors one-on-one in activities such as health sessions, bingo, arts-and-crafts, salsa dance lessons, and interact with the same individuals every week.
