English Classes

The Latin American Association offers a variety of English classes to fit your needs. We offer ESL, conversation, pronunciation, business and English writing classes.  Our instruction focuses on learners' strengths and on real-life communication and language skills. Learners work together in pairs and small groups, as well as individually and as a whole group, and courses integrate all skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Intercambio

Once a week, each English class meets with its sister Spanish class for an Intercambio. This involves doing one activity completely in Spanish and one activity completely in English. The Intercambio provides a unique opportunity for students to practice and reinforce their newly acquired language skills with native speakers of the target language.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

Our English as a Second Language Program is based on the idea that students must be active participants in their learning and work together cooperatively to successfully acquire the target language.  Our instruction focuses on learners' strengths and on real communication and life skills. These classes are offered at each of our outreach centers: the schedule below lists information and times for classes at the Atlanta Outreach Center. For the ESL schedule and more information click here.

English Conversation Classes

The Latin American Association offers English Conversation Classes at the Atlanta Outreach Center. This course is designed for intermediate and advanced level students who wish to improve their English communication skills for everyday life or enhance their command of English for professional purposes. Students will build vocabulary, grammar, speaking and pronunciation skills appropriate for different cultural, work and social settings. For the English Conversation schedule and more information click here.

English Pronunciation Classes

The Latin American Association offers English Pronunciation Classes at the Atlanta Outreach Center. Students of a second language frequently encounter problems with pronunciation, rhythm, stress and intonation. In this class students will learn how to pronounce problematic sounds, identify problems that inhibit communication and develop their ability to speak fluently and be understood. Exercises used in this course will include: listening and singing along to songs, group readings of poetry and much more. For the English Pronunciation schedule and more information click here.

English Business Classes

We offer international businessmen and women the opportunity to work with a professional, native English speaker instructor using a customized curriculum targeted at improving their oral and written communication skills in English, including: writing emails and business correspondences; creating and delivering professional presentations; and successfully interacting in the US business culture. For more information such as mandatory orientation dates and start of classes. For the English Business Class schedule and more information click here.

English Writing Classes

This course will help intermediate and advanced level students improve their writing skills. Students will learn how to create interesting, well-organized, and grammatically correct paragraphs and essays. Each lesson will focus on a single topic, building from sentence structure and mechanics to writing, revising and proper formatting. In addition, students will develop an understanding of the use of text organization, English language structures, and editing skills. Grammar review will be incorporated as needed. For the English Writing classes schedule and more information click here.
