Community & Family ServicesThrough our community services, we provide resources to families so that they can easily access help in a time of urgent need. With a focus on helping families keep their current housing, the program provides various types of emergency assistance including:
Parenting ClassesParents are welcome to join theses classes in order to strengthen and enhance their parenting skills while building closer relationships with their children. Courses incorporate topics such as parenting techniques, relationship conflict, child development and dealing with anger. Community Resources & Health ProgramsWe work with a number of partner agencies who provide services at LAA sites such as free HIV testing, hemoglobin tests, Medicaid assistance and blood drives. Check out schedules here. We can help eligible individuals to access community resources such as Medicaid, Medicare, food stamps, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Domestic ViolenceThe LAA offers support groups and legal and immigration assitance for people who are faced with situations of domestic violence. Rent, Mortgage & Utility AssistanceIn certain cases, we can provide temporary, limited financial and case management services to help prevent homelessness. Specific guidelines and policies are used to determine need, eligibility, amount of financial assistance and other resources necessary.
Food and Clothing AssistanceWe distribute food and clothing to individuals and families facing hardship. The LAA depends on private donations to provide this service! Information & ReferralsWe help individuals in need find the community services that can best eliminate that need, such as legal referrals, counseling referrals, emergency shelter, medical referrals and other support services.
TranslationsWe offer translations of official documents such as birth, wedding, divorce and death certificates. We also translate school transcripts, diplomas, country-of-origin identifications, etc. For more information, please call 404-248-2209.
