Summer Camp Program
The Latin American Association's Inspira Summer Camp Program targets young Latinos ages 6-13 (first through eighth grade). Helping a variety of children from different socio-economic levels and ethnicities, Inspira’s goal for the summer is to provide a positive, safe, healthy and caring environment where students can maintain and improve academic skills. Students are divided into one of four academic classes. Each class has a teacher, intern, and volunteers to assist the students in making progress throughout the summer. Focused on math and science, students are assessed with preliminary and post-camp tests to determine their progress. Inspira Summer Camp focuses on helping kids understand that they can be successful at anything - as long as they put their mind to it.
Students go on field trips, presenters visit the classes, and children attend tours of community resources. Attendees have the chance to be active with activities ranging from swimming to rock climbing.
Last summer, the LAA served nearly 200 students, a majority of which made great improvements from their pre- to post-camp math assessments. Nearly every parent said they would encourage their students to attend the next year.
Our main goal is that Inspira would inspire and empower children to pursue their dreams through learning and enrichment.
